Married4Life

Married4Life

Life is fast and hectic and we all wonder where the time goes, but in the middle of life's busyness, we still have to make time to deal with family and marriage issues. The danger of our lifestyle is that sometimes what's important gets overshadowed by the urgency of the moment. Our marriage often suffers in the process. But what is a great marriage and how can a couple have one?

Water Baptism

WATER BAPTISM
Jesus commanded us to celebrate our new life through public baptism. At Tree of Life, that’s what Water Baptism is all about…celebrating your new life through Jesus.
“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” 2 Corinthians 5:17 NLT
Baptism is…
  • A step of obedience (Matthew 3:13-16) – Jesus set the example for us by being baptized to fulfill all righteousness.
  • A statement of commitment (Romans 10:9-10) – Baptism serves as a public statement that we have surrendered our lives to Christ and that we believe in him. In baptism, we are declaring to the world that we belong to Christ and He is our Lord and Savior.
  • A symbol of the death, burial and resurrection of Christ (Romans 6:3-11) - Just as Christ gave His life for us and died, in making a decision to follow Christ, the person we were prior to becoming a follower of Christ is also dead. Modeling how Christ was buried and then resurrected from death, when being baptized we are buried in the water and then raised to become a new person.
Questions:

Q. What if I gave my life to Christ but have not been baptized?
A. No one receives eternal life through water baptism. This comes through grace alone. Baptism is an outward act of obedience that comes because you gave your heart to Christ.
Q. What if I was baptized as a child? Can I do it again?
A. Water baptism should be a spiritual experience in your life. A mark when you publicly professed Him as a Christ follower. If you do not remember your baptism, let me encourage you to make this a special moment at our next baptism. If you are comfortable that God was honored at your baptism, then we rejoice with your decision.
Q. There are different forms of baptism used in churches, which one is correct?
A. At Tree of Life, we prefer immersion simply because it's a great picture of burying the old life and being raised up to walk in the new lfe that come through Christ.

Throughout the year we celebrate water baptism, allowing new believers to publicly proclaim their faith by following the example of Jesus in being baptized in water.

Family and friends are encouraged to attend. Check the Events Calendar for the next baptism service.
